Review and Reshoot Day

I thought on our last filming day that we wouldn't have enough shots for our commericial.  However me and my group looked over the footage in class today. We ended up finding that we didn't need a second day for filming. As we looked at all the clips we were scared the commercial was going to be too short. But we found a way to make the commercial 30 seconds. Since I had all of the clips on my phone, I sent the clips to everybody in the group. One of the team members, Charlie started editing so we could see if the clips were really long enough. We decided as a group which clips to use. We had two different areas for the shots. We used multiple clips of the football scenes. However fewer scenes for the volleyball clips. With all of the class time we finished editing the commercial and we decided different music options and different cuts for the scenes to make. We researched different Nike commercials and how they were produced. Using this information we tried to replicate this production and use the same music for our commercial. At the end we added a card of the Nike logo and their saying.We combined our editing day and our filming day in one due to the not needed second day of filming. We might use our future editing days to touch up some editing. We also might use them to redo our editing and try something else. Overall the commercial I think is pretty good for being filmed so quickly. I think we could work on some things but overall good.

   After thorough research and thought, we've decided on the Drama genre. Horror, drama, and comedy are three entirely different genres, and are rather difficult to compare. Our pitch has a rather dark and serious aspect to it. With this, concluded that the lightheartedness of a comedy was definitely not the way to go. Aspects of a comedy include things bright and joyous lighting, fun props and light makeup. It is clear that a film capturing battles with substance abuse and addiction would not be portrayed in a breezy light hearted way. Further, popular movies under the comedy genre, like Step Brothers and Mean Girls, have none of the vision that wee see in our movie. This left us to decide between horror and drama. While these can both have chilling, surreal aspects, one just fit our theme better than the other. Production: Finding the Perfect Location

 Today I went over location of the shoot. I knew majority of the film would be shot in different places of my house. For scenes where the father is not in his daughters room, I wanted to figure out the best location. I walked around my house considering suitable settings. My mother has rather "glamours" taste, and loves to make the house look nice. This in mind, I had to be sure there were places I could take shots that wouldn't portray any sort of lavish scenery. In the scene where the father is passed out in his chair, I had a vision of a big, brown reclining arm chair. However, I do not own any type of chairs like this, just rolling office chairs. Instead, I figured I could use the end of our brown couch. My tv in room is rather plain at the moment, and has brown walls, so it seemed fitting. Title Research: Gattaca

1.  How many titles are displayed during the opening sequences to the film?  Which ones?     There was a total of 18 title scenes, 20 including the two quotes at the very beginning. It started with the quotes then went to the main production company(Columbia), the production, who the film was by, finally the cast. They showed two cast members then the main title, Gattaca, then the rest of the cast. It is assumed that the two first cast members listed are the main actors. Then finally, the other important people that added to the film at the end. 2.  What connotations do the images carry?  ( how  do you they make you feel) The imaging at the start is most just blue screen.
