Had so much fun!

Finally! We finished the music video. It was a lot of hard but fun work. I don't think the final result is perfect but it really has effort. I believe that my production skills have increased. This is because I have done two major projects at this point. I feel like editing and producing the music video was different from a commercial. The music video was much harder and in depth. I enjoyed filming the commercial more because it was more spontaneous and integrate. My favorite part of making pieces like the commercial and the music video, is the filming part. I feel like I am best at this side of production. My weak side is editing. I have never edited before this year. I still find it very hard and frustrating. I have learned a lot from my teammates and I am happy I am with them. With the music video I feel like we were creative however stayed within the Ice Cube vibe. I like when we made a scene of the actor eating breakfast while it came up in the lyrics. Overall filming is somet

Finishing the music video!

Today we finished filming. We did the second half of the editing on the music video. We started at the 7/11 scenes. We cut directly to the slushies filling up. This part of the music video was hardest to edit. This part of the music video contains a flashback. So this contained a lot of editing. Since the music video was about the day being a good day we wanted to make sure that it showed that. We included a flashback of the two friends' day together. Then showed the actor smiling after thinking about it. We had to edit scenes fast together so this took skill. We relied on Charlie for this. We cut the scenes about 5 times. We also had the two friends text each other about the amazing day they had. When we started the flashback it was from moments of the day together. Then we put the text message in. At the end of the video we faded to a black screen. We also faded the music down. We finished the editing processes for the day! Mostly for the whole project. We will look at the resul

Reviewing film

We finished filming a few days ago. We went to 7/11 and shot the actors getting slushies. We also filmed a few walking shots to wrap up everything. We discussed how we would edit on the phone. My group member Charlie is the best person to edit. We all threw in our ideas of how we wanted the whole music video to look. We decided that we wanted to put a retro look on it because the song is pretty old. Today we followed the storyboard and used the scenes in order. We had to edit each scene individually before putting them together. After making small edits, we put the scenes together. We overlapped the song with the scenes. For example, in the song it says "And mama cooked the breakfast..", we put the scene of the actor eating breakfast with that lyric. We did mostly simple cut shots in the beginning. We watched Ice Cube's editing style and he does quick shots from scene to scene. We did a bit more editing on the basketball scenes. We did fast shots. They transitioned to di

Getting it down

We filmed again for the music video today. We filmed the first few scenes. They were in one of my group members house. We didn't need outside props for the scene so we just filmed right away. The first scene of the day was the actor sleeping, then waking up to the alarm. The actor looks very happy and joyful to be waking up. Then the song starts playing when he gets up. The timing of this scene was pretty hard. Even though the scene was short it took a pretty long time to get it right. Scene 2, we made the actor cooking some breakfast. We synced up the actor making breakfast with the lyric in the song saying breakfast.  We filmed only one more scene today. It was at the local park. We choose to male actors as friends in the music video. The scene consisted of two friends walking outside on a trail and enjoyment their time together. This shot was very easy to get, it was short and very easy to focus on the characters. We had good weather today thankfully! It was an overall good fil

Filming day one!

Basketball Scenes:    Today was day one of filming the music video. We filmed the basketball scenes first(3-6). We went to a local basketball court and starting doing our ideas. Our props were a basketball a water bottle and obviously the actors. Scene 3, the actor arrives at the basketball court and joins in on a game. The basketball scene added to the music video with the upbeat activity. We had to wait for the courts to clear to film our next scene. We get two actors playing basketball, back and forth. This scene was just two friends having fun. We filmed a bunch of shots of the actors playing around. We tried a bunch of different angles and shots. The next scene, one actor drank water after the game. We showed them cooling off after a tiring activity. We made this scene shorter than the others being that its not that significant. We made this scene 3 seconds. Luckily no rain or bad weather, just hot! If it were to have rained we maybe would have shot one of our other scenes that
