Creative Critical Reflection
1. How does your product use or challenge conventions AND how does it represent social groups or issues?
My project shows character and challenges conventions by using a repetitive aspect to the commercial. We had two actors and we started by panning the Nike clothing first then showing the activities that would be done with the Nike apparel. Using two different popular activities we knew we would real in a large audience. It also shows how diverse Nike can be, since we used to different athletes.
2. How does your product engage with audiences AND how would it be distributed as a real media text?
My product engages with the fitness world. Nike is a fitness-based product, meaning our commercial had to appeal to it’s audience. My commercial consists of fitness activities and the strength that Nike provides these activities with. Because of the commercial’s fast pase and fast editing, it would be considered a real Nike commercial. Nike provides strength and power to customers and that is what the commercial showed.
3. How did your production skills develop throughout this project?
Before I started this project, I have never seriously filmed something. At the beginning, I would be considered as a newbie to this industry. From this project I learned how to film different shots and how it would come out on camera. I also learned how to edit. I have never edited before this either. I would say my production skills definitely improved, however I still need practice to perfect filming.
4. How did you integrate technologies – software, hardware and online – in this project?
Most of the project included online factors. Filming the commercial needed a phone. Editing the commercial needed a computer and uploading and researching needed a computer as well. Most of our shots we had to redo a few times to get it perfect. The Iphone allows us to take as many shots as we want. Editing was also a big part of the project. We used different research-based ideas to form our editing style. We used the Imovie editing software.
