Production: All Done!


Finally me and Riana finished! The final product is really good and better than expected. We loved watching the final product and seeing our hard work pay off! I ended up editing the first part of the video, then Riana finished it. I loved watching it all together for the first time. The genre we picked for our video was Drama. The video definitely fits the category. It was very dramatic and appeals to the right audience. The video had dark lighting, dark scenes, and a dark message. You can say the video also fits the Thriller category as well. The video has aspects of both because Thrillers are usually more upsetting films. My favorite scene to film was the "shadow" scene. We had to record our shadows fighting. It was hard to film because we had to record from many different angles to try to not get us in the shot. That scene was super funny and enjoyable to film. Riana's favorite scene to film was the "Birds-eye view shot". We both enjoyed this because as she was filming me above the bed, she fell. We both also loved coming up with the props and creating cool ways to show what we envisioned. Our actor has filmed other projects before and he enjoyed doing it again. Me and Riana really enjoyed the process and the experience of filming a music video!

Title Research: Gattaca

1.  How many titles are displayed during the opening sequences to the film?  Which ones?     There was a total of 18 title scenes, 20 including the two quotes at the very beginning. It started with the quotes then went to the main production company(Columbia), the production, who the film was by, finally the cast. They showed two cast members then the main title, Gattaca, then the rest of the cast. It is assumed that the two first cast members listed are the main actors. Then finally, the other important people that added to the film at the end. 2.  What connotations do the images carry?  ( how  do you they make you feel) The imaging at the start is most just blue screen. It shows something falling and bouncing around in the background. Then at the end you can see a main shaving his beard. The movie is starting at the end of the title sequence. Had so much fun!

Finally! We finished the music video. It was a lot of hard but fun work. I don't think the final result is perfect but it really has effort. I believe that my production skills have increased. This is because I have done two major projects at this point. I feel like editing and producing the music video was different from a commercial. The music video was much harder and in depth. I enjoyed filming the commercial more because it was more spontaneous and integrate. My favorite part of making pieces like the commercial and the music video, is the filming part. I feel like I am best at this side of production. My weak side is editing. I have never edited before this year. I still find it very hard and frustrating. I have learned a lot from my teammates and I am happy I am with them. With the music video I feel like we were creative however stayed within the Ice Cube vibe.
