Production: Very First Film Review



Me and Riana finally finished filming! We are so relieved and excited. We know now we have to review all of our footage and see what we don’t like versus what we do. We did review the clips here and there on film day but we didn’t review all. Me and Riana have a week or so to finish editing so we knew we could review another day. Once we started reviewing we saw a total of 3 things we didn’t like. First of all we saw that the scenes going right after each other had different lighting(time of day). We knew this was a problem as this had to be the same day and time as the scene before that. So we wrote that down as our first problem. We only had one scene with this problem so, so far we only need to redo one scene. This was the scene in the middle of the girl stealing her dads money.  Next we saw a problem with the father’s clothing in one scene. Our very first scene we tested the look of the area and the lightning. Our actor, was wearing normal clothes in the scene to try out the lighting. We somehow forgot that we didn’t actually complete this scene. Also, me and riana somehow did not realize after that he wasn’t wearing the right clothes. This is another scene we have to go back and finish.  Last problem me and riana saw was the shakiness of film in some scenes. We didn’t know at the time how much we would redo but we weren’t completely upset at the result. Our project is due soon but we both talked about a day to do the final touch ups. We are so close to being done and to edit.

Title Research: Gattaca

1.  How many titles are displayed during the opening sequences to the film?  Which ones?     There was a total of 18 title scenes, 20 including the two quotes at the very beginning. It started with the quotes then went to the main production company(Columbia), the production, who the film was by, finally the cast. They showed two cast members then the main title, Gattaca, then the rest of the cast. It is assumed that the two first cast members listed are the main actors. Then finally, the other important people that added to the film at the end. 2.  What connotations do the images carry?  ( how  do you they make you feel) The imaging at the start is most just blue screen. It shows something falling and bouncing around in the background. Then at the end you can see a main shaving his beard. The movie is starting at the end of the title sequence. Had so much fun!

Finally! We finished the music video. It was a lot of hard but fun work. I don't think the final result is perfect but it really has effort. I believe that my production skills have increased. This is because I have done two major projects at this point. I feel like editing and producing the music video was different from a commercial. The music video was much harder and in depth. I enjoyed filming the commercial more because it was more spontaneous and integrate. My favorite part of making pieces like the commercial and the music video, is the filming part. I feel like I am best at this side of production. My weak side is editing. I have never edited before this year. I still find it very hard and frustrating. I have learned a lot from my teammates and I am happy I am with them. With the music video I feel like we were creative however stayed within the Ice Cube vibe.
