Production: Finally Finished Filming




 It was me and Riana’s final day of filming. We both reviewed the film at home earlier and came ready to talk about what we wanted to change. Before coming I saw all of the footage we have created. I realized I didn’t like how the “slamming door scene” looked. Knowing that I only sent that footage to her and we started finishing the last few scenes. We had a few more scenes and little clips to film. This last day out of 5 was the fastest because of how little we had left. We had a problem filming the scenes with the “drugs or pills”. We didn’t know what to use for the pills and the pill bottles. We didn’t have any of those orange ones that most people have. So we decided to just have the actor taking the pills. (Later that day we find a pill bottle and incorporate it in to the film). After finishing filming we finally discussed what we thought we should change. She agreed with me and we ended up changing the way the door slammed. As we seem to be done filming. We start playing around with which way it should go. We seem to find out we like a scene to go earlier then what we thought. We didn’t know if we should move the scenes around from what we had just regularly thought. We ended up deciding to keep the scene where it was originally supposed to go. After filming we had to share all of the footage with each other. Me, Riana, and our actors were so exaughted after filming.

Title Research: Gattaca

1.  How many titles are displayed during the opening sequences to the film?  Which ones?     There was a total of 18 title scenes, 20 including the two quotes at the very beginning. It started with the quotes then went to the main production company(Columbia), the production, who the film was by, finally the cast. They showed two cast members then the main title, Gattaca, then the rest of the cast. It is assumed that the two first cast members listed are the main actors. Then finally, the other important people that added to the film at the end. 2.  What connotations do the images carry?  ( how  do you they make you feel) The imaging at the start is most just blue screen. It shows something falling and bouncing around in the background. Then at the end you can see a main shaving his beard. The movie is starting at the end of the title sequence. Had so much fun!

Finally! We finished the music video. It was a lot of hard but fun work. I don't think the final result is perfect but it really has effort. I believe that my production skills have increased. This is because I have done two major projects at this point. I feel like editing and producing the music video was different from a commercial. The music video was much harder and in depth. I enjoyed filming the commercial more because it was more spontaneous and integrate. My favorite part of making pieces like the commercial and the music video, is the filming part. I feel like I am best at this side of production. My weak side is editing. I have never edited before this year. I still find it very hard and frustrating. I have learned a lot from my teammates and I am happy I am with them. With the music video I feel like we were creative however stayed within the Ice Cube vibe.
