What we picked!

After thorough research and thought, we've decided on the Drama genre. Horror, drama, and comedy are three entirely different genres, and are rather difficult to compare. Our pitch has a rather dark and serious aspect to it. With this, concluded that the lightheartedness of a comedy was definitely not the way to go. Aspects of a comedy include things bright and joyous lighting, fun props and light makeup. It is clear that a film capturing battles with substance abuse and addiction would not be portrayed in a breezy light hearted way. Further, popular movies under the comedy genre, like Step Brothers and Mean Girls, have none of the vision that wee see in our movie. This left us to decide between horror and drama. While these can both have chilling, surreal aspects, one just fit our theme better than the other. Horror films make use of dark lighting, setting and mood, but horror does it as the scare the watchers, and we don't want to go THAT dark. Horrors use a lot of eerie ...

Planning the music video!

Image
Props: Since my group and I decided to film a music video for the song It Was A Good Day by ICE CUBE, the props we will include is basketballs, slushies from 7-11, and an alarm clock. We will be using other props as well, but they have not yet been determined. Costumes: In the music video, we will have all our group members in the video. For the scene where were at the park, I will wear athletic clothes for when I play basketball. I will wear sneakers, shorts, and a tank top. The actors will wear what they want for the scenes because the music wants to show that the actors are having a good day just being themselves. The music video will show that it like any other good day. Schedule: On 11/12/21: Me and my group research conventions of music videos and the song, It Was a Good Day. On 11/16/21: Me and my group establish props, costumes, schedule, location list, and backup plan. On 11/18/21: Me and my group will have the storyboard for the music video created. Between 11/21...

Had so much fun!

Finally! We finished the music video. It was a lot of hard but fun work. I don't think the final result is perfect but it really has effort. I believe that my production skills have increased. This is because I have done two major projects at this point. I feel like editing and producing the music video was different from a commercial. The music video was much harder and in depth. I enjoyed filming the commercial more because it was more spontaneous and integrate. My favorite part of making pieces like the commercial and the music video, is the filming part. I feel like I am best at this side of production. My weak side is editing. I have never edited before this year. I still find it very hard and frustrating. I have learned a lot from my teammates and I am happy I am with them. With the music video I feel like we were creative however stayed within the Ice Cube vibe. I like when we made a scene of the actor eating breakfast while it came up in the lyrics. Overall filming is somet...
